Australian Herbal Medicine
There is a fantastic number of things to see and do in Australia, and every city has magnificent local offerings that have appeal to visitors of all ages. It’s quite international, with a local population that has lived here for hundreds of generations, and then there are many immigrant communities that have been here long enough to form their own cultures. On top of this, there is a constant influx of visitors and tourists, who each add their own unique touches to the place. In most cities, then, there are customs in place for making newcomers feel welcome, and this same hospitality is applied to travelers. There are many cultures and traditions here, and there are also many amazing expanses of natural beauty, outback and ocean and all that’s in between. Because of this, many people looking for a vacation spent on inner and exterior health are drawn to Australia. Spa resorts offer some magnificent experiences.
You’ll be dining with some of the most scrumptious food in the world, prepared by world-class chefs, and treated to a host of splendid amenities in your spacious and sumptuous room. You’ll also be enjoying some of the finest spa treatments anywhere, and perhaps find many opportunities to escape from the world you left behind, and refresh your body and spirit. While you’re here, you might pick up some of the local ideas of healing, philosophies of the body’s relationship to the spirit, as well as a little bit of knowledge about the local plants.
Using herbs for healing has been a part of the local Aboriginal medicine traditions for thousands of years, just as it is in most places in the world with long histories of inhabitation. The bush is the pharmacy, and there are plants that can heal anything. One example here would be the Eurphoria Hirta, a hairy plant which grows about two feet in height. It is rather common, but the medicinal uses are not so well known. The Euhprobia Hirta, or Asthma Weed is a diuretic, and has been used to treat edema, hypertension, and is also an excellent balm for bacteria. There are thousands and thousands of plants that have uses for medicinal purposes here, and sometimes looking into one kind of alternative healing will open doors to others, and it’s a matter of following your instincts to see where to look next.
