There is an enormous amount of vivacious urban attractions to make night life a true pleasure. From restaurants to clubs to theatres, there is always something to do in this rich city. The days can be spent lounging at the hotel, or wandering through the city people watching and shopping. There are also some interesting tours, and for this, the Batu Caves Temple is highly recommended. Built over a hundred years ago to Lord Subramaniar (Karttikeya), it is a fantastic display of human devotion in a rich natural setting.

For the main cave, there are 272 steps up, where visitors will make their way past all the macaque monkeys to find their way to the Hindu monuments that adorn the temple. At the Batu Caves Temple, there is a very large and famous statue to Murugan, the Hindu God of War, which is the largest in the world at 42.7 meters tall. Every year, devotees will make a pilgrimage to this temple to bring pots, called kavadis, filled with milk as an offering to Murugan. Priests will pour consecrated ash over the kavadi bearers flesh, which are sometimes pierced with hooks, and they do not shed blood. This is one of the more iconic ceremonies for contemporary Malaysia, where one can see very old ceremonies performed today.
